Temp Files and Caches Explained
Temp files are intermediate files from running programs; caches speed up future reads. They are usually rebuildable; deleting them may slow the next launch or regenerate them, but does not lose documents.
Common types
Installer temp files, logs and crash dumps.
Shader cache, thumbnail cache and browser cache.
Cost of deleting
First launch is slower and thumbnails regenerate.
Files in use may not delete; skipping them is fine.
FAQ

Will cleanup log me out?
